By signing this Housing Contract I understand that:

This housing contract is binding for the Fall and Spring semesters of the 2017-2018 academic year. If I withdraw from the University at any time during the academic year, I will contact my Residence Director & follow proper checkout procedure. Failure to do so may result in a fine.

On campus residency is required for all full-time, unmarried, undergraduate students who have not attained their 23rd birthday, unless they are living with a parent or guardian within 40 miles of campus. These students must complete the Commuter Student Form and be approved by the Director of Residence Life and Housing. Any student found in violation of the Residency Requirement will be charged full room and board and required to move on campus.

All students living on campus are required to participate in the Meal Plan. Campus meals will be provided seven days per week during the academic year with the exception of Christmas Break.

All utilities and maintenance are the responsibility of Ave Maria University. I agree to report, in a timely manner, any declining room or furnishing conditions through a maintenance request at support.avemaria.edu.

It is my responsibility to read the Student Handbook and all communications from the Division of Student Affairs in order to be acquainted with and abide by the policies and regulations published therein. (https://www.avemaria.edu/handbook)

I will not transfer, vacate, or exchange rooms without proper authorization from a Residence Life staff member, nor will I remove or alter any furnishings or equipment from the assigned room or from any other part of the premises. I will not stay overnight in a room to which I am not assigned, without prior permission from the Residence Director.

I will not sublet my room nor let guests stay in my room without permission from the Residence Director. I agree to follow the University's visitor policy, and will not host guests unwelcome to the University.

The Office of Residence Life reserves the right to make room assignments, to change a student’s room when necessary, and in serious cases to require a student to withdraw completely from the residence hall and/or the University when such is deemed necessary by the University for the health and well-being of the student and /or University.

I will not use or keep any prohibited items (as specified by the Student Handbook) in my room.

Before moving out, each student must have a room inspection that satisfies the standards of the University. Students agree to make restitution for any and all damage done to University owned and operated property which was not otherwise noted on either the Room Inventory Form completed or assessed at the beginning of the semester.

With respect for every student’s right to privacy, if University authorities have reasonable cause to believe that the room is being used for a purpose that is illegal or that would otherwise seriously interfere with community standards, the student’s room and personal belongings may be searched and seized by University personnel. The University also reserves the right to enter the student’s room for the following reasons: handling custodial/maintenance issues; conducting building inspections; the inventory of University property, determining compliance with health and safety regulations; responding to an indication of danger to life, health or property.

Any damage done to the common areas of the residence halls may be assessed to all the residents of that wing, floor or building, if the person (s) responsible is (are) not identified.

The University is not responsible, financially or otherwise, for personal possessions lost, stolen, or damaged. Each resident is encouraged to purchase renters insurance.

Storage of any items over summer vacation is prohibited. Items that are left after checkout will be donated to a charitable organization or disposed of.

Should I at any time cease to be enrolled as a student at Ave Maria University, I will vacate the residence hall within 24 hours of the date of withdrawal from the University, or by the date approved by the Office of Residence Life. I am responsible for the removal of any/all of my belongings, and any expenses associated with that removal.

If I wish to cancel my housing contract prior to the start of the academic year, I must submit my request in writing to the Office of Residence Life.

I have read and understood the contents of this document.  I UNDERSTAND THAT I AM FINANCIALLY OBLIGATED TO PAY MY STUDENT ACCOUNT BY A SPECIFIC TIME DETERMINED BY THE UNIVERSITY. Failure to do so could result in an added fee or eviction from the Residence Halls.

My signature indicates my agreement to abide by the rules and regulations as established in this contract and as communicated by Ave Maria University. *
